Susie Gill Counselling

Registered counsellor offering confidential face-to-face therapy sessions to young people and adults in Exeter and Crediton.

What I Offer

I support clients through a variety of difficulties such as, anxiety, depression, stress, low confidence, relationship issues, major life changes, loneliness, anger, grief and loss, to name just a few. Counselling is beneficial for anyone experiencing any kind of pain and distress, as a result of problematic life experiences or thoughts and feelings.

I have specialist knowledge and experience working with those affected by trauma, in particular survivors of rape, sexual assault and childhood sexual abuse. I have further training to support children and adults during bereavement. I am a LGBTQ+ affirmative counsellor and have extensive experience working with people who identify as LGBT.

I feel passionate about the effectiveness of counselling in helping you make positive changes that everyone, no matter what their situation, is able to achieve a more balanced, happy and fulfilling life. I work collaboratively with clients, focusing on what they want to achieve and how they want to get there.

As a Registered member of BACP (British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy), I show commitment to my clients' wellbeing and I am bound by its code of ethics and good practice. I attend regular supervision and undertake continuing professional development.

I work using an integrated model of counselling. I use a humanistic approach, with an emphasis on person-centred counselling, although I do apply psychodynamic and CBT concepts at times. I tailor my approach to each of my clients, depending on their needs and preferred ways of working.

How Counselling Can Help

Emotional, psychological and relationship difficulties are hard to live with and can be detrimental to our wellbeing, health and our day-to-day functioning. At times our problems can feel overwhelming.

Exploring your issues during our sessions can help you to become more self aware and to understand your situation and problems better, in doing so, giving you the opportunity to move forward, by adopting strategies to cope, reaching acceptance, making better choices, or viewing your situation differently.

There is no issue too big or small that can be brought to counselling. My role as a counsellor is to be free of judgement and provide you with a safe, confidential space to explore your thoughts and feelings at your own pace.

Training, Qualification and Experience

Aside from my private practice, I am a volunteer counsellor at Chiddenbrook Surgery in Crediton where I receive G.P. referrals.

I counsel at the Intercom Trust where I work with clients who identify as LGBTQ+.

I also work on the helpline and provide specialist face-to-face support at Devon Rape Crisis and Sexual Abuse Services. The organisation provides ongoing training and development, which supports and enhances my counselling work.

Fees

Initial assessment session

This session gives you a chance to meet me and to ask any questions about the counselling I offer. It is important to choose a counsellor who is the right person for you.

During the session we can discuss your difficulties, how they are affecting your life and what you hope to gain from counselling.

You might want to consider goals and we can look at ways in which you might achieve them.

Following sessions

We would usually meet weekly for several sessions and gradually less frequently when you feel improvements.

The number of sessions and the frequency we meet is always your choice, and we can work within a set amount of time if you prefer. We will review our work together on a regular basis.

Each session lasts an hour and costs £40, however I am able to offer some consessionary appointments, please contact me for more details.

Contact

Please feel free to contact me by email or phone for a no obligation informal chat about your needs. It can sometimes feel difficult to seek help and I hope to make this process as comfortable as possible.
